ok there is this girl that im good friends with, and recently we have started meeting up as more than friends. I like her and i get the idea that she really likes me. Except theres one problem. I have a reputation as a goof that no one takes seriously. Im not sure how aware of this reputation she is, but when she tells people shes meeting me or going out with me, they will probably start laughing or teasing her about me. Im not a goof anymore, and am trying to change my reputation…. but…..
Can someone tell me if this will influence her opinion of me at all, or make her less attracted to me?

Well, analyzing the poem is your job, but I’ll tell you that it was inspired by the work of Scipio Moorhead, an African painter. Wheatley is praising and encouraging him, one artist to another, but also reminding him, with a change in tone ("But when these shades of time …) that eventually earthly praise and success will mean nothing, as will earthly subjects for poetry and painting. In heaven, after death, their themes will be different and their subjects will demand new language and new reverence.

If pragmatic would it make sense to say "Whatever works is true"?
Only if you use a highly distorted interpretation of the word "true". Semantically, the word "true" is generally understood to mean "in accordance with the facts insofar as they can be determined and demonstrated". Thus if a car is in proper working order and runs fine the statement that it works would be true, but the statement that the car is true would be meaningless. One factor of pragmatism is learning what the words we use actually mean so that we can articulate our thoughts in coherent, concise, and nuanced fashion, failure to do that makes any kind of shared information impossible.

Garruk Wildspeaker (planeswalk) summoned out of the battlefield.
On the opposing side the player had a Vampire Hexmage on the field decided to sac her in response of Garruk being summon. Is this possible?
Or I wanted to ask, can Vampire Hexmage kill planeswalker right when they come out to avoid them using their ability.
Or the player who summon Garruk gets priories to use the planeswalker’s abilities, over all instant killing spell such as lightning bolt, or abilities such as hexmage?
Lastly. rule 112.7a.
If a player were to use merfolk looter ability (tap) draw a card, then discard a card.
The opposing player in respond to that abilities uses disfigure (target creature gets -2/-2 until end of turn).
Does that mean even if you path of exile or destroy spell or abilities, they cannot stop merfolk looter’s controller to draw, then discard a card? if its a yes then that mean no matter what creatures abilities will always go through?

1. Garruk isn’t a legal target for the Hexmage until it resolves and enters the battlefield – until then, Garruk isn’t a permanent. The Hexmage’s controller will have to wait for Garruk to resolve. However, as soon as it does, Garruk’s controller gets priority and can use it to activate an ability. By the time the Hexmage’s controller get a chance to sacrifice it, one of Garruk’s abilities is already on the stack. And as rule 112.7a says, the ability will resolve regardless of what happens to Garruk.
Keep in mind that this is only how it works if Garruk is played normally. If it’s played through, say, cascade, that means that when Garruk resolves there’s still something on the stack (the cascade spell), so and since planeswalker abilities can only be activated at sorcery speed, he can’t use one of his abilities. Hexmage can be sacrificed here to prevent Garruk’s controller from using an ability.
2. Yes, same sort of situation. Once the Merfolk’s ability has been activated, it exists independantly of the Merfolk itself. Even if the Merfolk leaves play somehow, the ability will still resolve as normal, causing you to draw and then discard.

You are correct on both counts (so long as the Garruk controller isn’t foolish and domes something other than use a Garruk ability the moment it hits the battlefield). There are some abilities that can practically be negated by killing the controller, though, such as killing Gala Bed Thief as soon as it hits the battlefield if it is the only Ally that player controls.

1. once garruk comes into play, then the hexmage can be saced to kill garruk. he can’t activate his ability at instant speed, so he will die without using an ability.
2. tap abilities can’t be responded to. so no, you can’t stop the looter.

the planeswalker gains priority. so in simple terms yes..you can play the ability before they hex it.
same goes with jace come into play and player plays lightning bolt. you have the priority to activate his ability. (this only works if the planeswalker just came into play)
on the other rule.
merfolk looter is activate and target opponent uses its ability in response player can use disfigure/path to exile to fizzle the ability.
the only way the ability would go through would be if the player played disfigure/ path to exile first.
the controller of merfolk looter then has priority to respond

Ok, i know that its kind of similar to other love stories but whatever…So ; Its all happening in the early 19th century. Scarlett was a really beautiful, smart girl, she played the piano, read books, and so on. She also had one sister, Purslane who she loved more than anything. Her father was a doctor, and her mother was a beautiful housewife. Everyone thought that they were the luckiest family in the village. And some even envied them. One hot, summer night on August 17th 1804, two men broke into their house, and killed Scarlett’s parents, and her beloved sister Purslane, in front of her eyes! But somehow she managed to run away. Because she was afraid that the two men will come after her, she went all the way to the city of London. She was 13 by that time, and old enough for that incident to scar her for the rest of her life, And it did. She looked and acted pretty normal, but deep inside she was dark, sick, maybe evil…In London she lived really poorly, until she was at the age of 15 taken in by a really fancy, rich couple who had two children of their own. A boy Felix (16 yr.), and a girl Rebbecca (15 yr.). Rebbecca was envious like no one she had ever met, but the boy was always quite, always reading his books, and never talking to her, Rebbecca, or even his father. He only liked his mother. That was because John (the father) wasnt his biological father, and so Rebbecca wasnt his real sister ether. Scarlett somehow gets close to Felix, and they fall in love. Felix one day tells her a story of what changed his life forever. He told her that his father was an alcohol addict, and he constantly abused him and his mother. Felix also had a sister, who was 2 years younger than him. She was killed one night, when she tried to stand defend her mother. She was killed by her father. Thats when Felix and his mother came to London. This story reminded Scarlett of her past, and she started acting differently. Felixes also weird behavior brought up the evil side of her, but she loved him and he loved her. They both had deep wounds of their past. They had a kind of Heathcliff- Catherine (wuthering heights) relationship. But Felixes father was still alive, so one day he came to the city. Felix and Scarlett saw him. In him Scarlett recognized one of the men who had killed her family. Her behavior became even worst. She decided to get out of London with Felix, but days before they would leave (they were 17 by then) Felix went missing. Scarlett looked for him, and found him in an old House, the house belonged to his father. They ran away, but he followed them. At the end, Scarlett kills Felixes father (she was 18), and jumps of a bridge due to the mental illness she carried since she was 13 that became even stronger once she met the murderer once again. Felix continues living in desperation, and marries a girl he meets at the university. He never loved her, and lived unhappy with her and their one child. He dies at the age of 51. He had loved Scarlett till then.( im not so sure if it should just end with Scarlett killing herself or with Felix marring the other girl??)

Depressing ending, though. But, we haven’t seen enough of those. I always see happy endings. I’ve never really read a book with a sad ending, but that’s just me.

Wow… that’s really deep if somewhat depressing. I like the story but I think it should end with Scarlett killing herself, then do a prolong on Felix dieing at 50. I think that would be very professional.

Oh my god wow! This is an amazing plot! It has everything good in books. Mystery , romance , villains , hero’s , tragedy , murder and it’s very realistic great! I would love to read it. Some mistakes though such as if it’s in early 1900’s why was on 1804 the story beginning? Go more deeper into how Scarlett felt at the murder of her family and how she escaped. Where were they living before? What village? I love the way you focused on Felix never really talked to the father and Rebeca. (I think you misspelled Rebeca) It was good to show a little mystery with that. Amazingly full of pain great! Please write more then 250 pages I’d say it wouldn’t be enough anyway. Your very mature to do it good luck! Also maybe write it from Scarlett’s point of view so you can explain her pain and anger. Like " I stared so numb as the man hit my beloved sister and blood crimson and sickening dripped from her pale face." Maybe after Scarlett’s death you could do it from Felix’s point of view or Scarlett watching him from Heaven. Also who found Scarlett’s family murdered? Try do a sad chapter on that to a family friend who find’s them maybe. Good luck!

Any tips on my EUROTRIP?

I’m 21 (female). My friend and I are planning a Eurotrip for this summer. Mid July-Mid August.
We are planning to fit a lot in.
London, Amsterdam, Rome, Venice, Ibiza, Madrid/Barcelon, Paris (day trip), Monaco(Fr), Nice(Fr), Mikonos (Gr), Freiburg (Germ).
I’m wondering, are we crazy for trying to fit so much in? We are at the perfect age to enjoy, party, see, advernture and travel all over europe.
Can anyone suggest hostels? Attractions?
For 21year olds- what is better- Barcelona or Madrid? Rome or Venice? Which is better to stay in over night- Nice or Monaco? We want to party, we want to go to beaches, shop and see attractions.

I appretiate any experiences, suggestions and help. This is early in the planning so we have room to adjust thinngs.

I did a similar trip for the same period of time at the same time of the year. So, are you crazy for trying to fit so much in? That depends on what you want to do. Do you want to have a very relaxed, laid back trip? If so, don’t go to so many places. First off, you have about 30 days, and 12 places that you want to go to.
Considering the time it takes to pack up, leave a hostel, get to the train station (or airport), travel to the new place, find the new hostel, and get checked in… we will say an average of 0.5 days per trip between locations if you plan it pretty smoothly. In this case you are looking at about 6 days of just travelling time, although some places will be much trickier to get to depending on how you are travelling. So, let’s say that 6 days are lost to travelling (12 half days), then you have 24 days left in your trip, and 12 locations… so you will be averaging just two days in every place that you go to. Will that be enough for you?
Cities like London, Rome, and Paris can take up a week each for just sight seeing. I am very surprised to see that you will only do Paris as a day-trip – is this because you have been there before? If not, I strongly recommend that you reconsider. Also, you plan on going to Mikonos… that would be a full day travel just to get there, and then a full day travel back as it is so far out of the way from everything else you are going to see. Do you really want to travel that far to spend one day and then travel back from there?
For hostels, I suggest that you take a look at the reviews at http://www.hostels.com – I found the overall opinion for people at each hostel to be very helpful and fairly accurate.
As for which is better… If your priorities are partying, beaches, shopping, and attractions then Rome may be better than Venice for you. Neither really have beaches (sure, Venice has the Lido beach but it’s not really worth it compared to the Italian or French riviera) but night life in Venice is pretty much dead. It is a nice romantic city that is quiet at night and does not have good hostels – especially for the price.
Monaco is painfully expensive to stay in, so I would recommend Nice instead.
To sum up your plans, I would suggest that you re-evaluate what your trip is. It sounds like you might be preferring to see beaches and partying over focusing on historic sights and museums. If that is the case, you really are not allowing yourself much time to relax and enjoy the nightlife in each place. You might want to either consider only having two such places on your entire trip, or cutting out the non-beach areas. Either way, I think some cutting back would be helpful, especially if you can cut out the places that will just add far too much travel time to be worth it.

greece is just gonna be a hassle, because is nowhere near any of those places u mentioned . barcelona is better than madrid. cant decide between rome and venice, i say both! visit florence too if u can. and i d say nice better than monaco to stay overnight. visiting paris in a day is not gonna be enough. its too big and u wont get to see anything. enjoy ur trip!

Do you think there's a reason for everything?
well kind of a bad thing happened in my childhood and i’m wondering what the reason of this happened.
Heres the story:
I had a sleep over with my closest friends. we played video games backyard football went into the pool. boy stuff and i had an awesome day. The next morning my friends were still there and my mom was all dressed up and she was going to this bon jovi concert and she’ll be gone all day. so that was cool and i realized that i have another party to go to and i’m going with my friends that just slept over (kinda small lil’ neighborhood) so it was an exciting couple of days. So we go to the party wit me my two bros and my dad. Do pool party crap..blah blah..blah and i pull out a juicebox and relize my dads talking to my neighbor the whole party thought nothing of it. Finally the party ends everyones tired especially me. go right to my house slip of my shoes and just go to bed. realizing my mom was still at the concert. So everyone passes out in like 20 minutes. But i woke up at like 3:00am with my mom screaming crying and i could resite every word "WHAT THE F*** IS THIS WHAT’S YOUR PROBLEM YOUR MY BEST FRIEND AND YOU GO AND DO THIS WHAT THE **** WHAT IS THIS I WAS GONE ALL F***ING DAY AND YOU DO THIS. LEAVE MY HOUSE. i was like 8 or 9 at the time. and i didn’t know what was going on. until she went into further detail. She called up my aunt and she said my dad was cheating on her other stuff. And i sat in my bed crying. when everything good went upside down. Everyone had a great time until this. i couldn’t do anything i didn’t want to i was shocked with depression. we had to move from my neighborhood cause my neighbor lived across the street. And my dad had to move out for a month then came back they fight say things will get better fight again and then he went to a acholism thing for like a month and a half. and they have fought so far the cops came to my house. to the point when i would break down and cry. when this 12 year old. football player tough comical guy broke down into tears. they pushed me so far i’ve even cut my wrist (never thought of sucide) and have been depressed for a whole year. i’ve gotten better but when people push me and they complain about their small problems i just can’t control my self with anger and all these feelings that blow out of me. i probably do need therapy i bottle up my feelings but i want to know why this had to happen my life was practically perfect until one day.
Trust me. It will get better. Ok, to make my point, this is pretty much what’s up with me. First, my mom died when I was a kid, then 4 other family members died in a 3 year period, then I got bitten by a dog and received 22 stitches (accident), then I thought everything was ok for about a year until my 2 childhood dogs died on me (I know, they are just pets, but Im a huge animal lover so it hurt!). Then, right when I enter college, I think that everything is going well, until two days before I start the semester i break my foot. Yes, I have to wear a cast, no problem, but still troublesome. After that, my laptop breaks down and I have to spend around $150 getting it fixed. About three weeks after that (mind you this is all within a four month period once I started college) my only car’s engine blew. After that… (geez glad 2009 is over) I tried to turn a corner, lost control and the car my sister loaned me to finish school and fell 200 ft. Now, I had to stop school because I don’t have any transport and move back home. But, I am extremely optimistic and know that everything does happen for a reason. Even though I have gone through all of this, I know that because one thing happens, another event occurs and changes your life in a different way. Remember: What does not kill you makes you stronger! I do believe everything happens for a reason. It may not be clear why this has affected you the way it has but then again you may never know why. You will need to learn to accept that in your own way. I would recommend that you see a psychiatrist that’s goal is to help you over come this portion of your life. I will pray for you and am sorry you have gone through all this and never got any help coping with the divorce. Good luck!

First of all it was not your fault, or your mothers what your father, and next door neighbor did, they are adults and they took it to far and cross the line. Being that said they are paying the consequence for there actions, and so is the family, but its up to you to come thought this without being scared for life. This is a new year and you must move on, and leave the past behind you, do not carry the sins of your father like a cross it is not yours to bare. For example my father was an alcoholic and i hated my childhood, so i made sure that i would never drink or smoke and when i would have my own children i would not make there life a living hell like mind. I have 3 wonderful sons and they love me to death, and always tell me what a great mom i am, you must think of your future and how you want your life to be, so make the right chooses when you pick a bride so you won’t go through the same thing as your parents and swear to yourself that you will not do the same mistakes your parents did, and you will be a better person for it.

If we can learn from our parents mistakes we become a better person. We learn what happens when people drink booze and have affairs. It hurts so many people and it is not necessary.
It teaches us lessons about selfishness. Sometimes other people problems seem to be less important but they don’t know what problem you have experienced. Someone was mean to them or hurt them in some way and one of the lessons we can learn is to be more tolerant and understanding. It’s what we want from other people right?
We want other people to be understanding of our problem. But we bottle our problems up. This is another very important lesson. Eventually our feelings need to come out. It’s better to let them out a bit at a time. We also learn that we don’t want to hurt other people because we know what it feels like.
We need to learn to talk about our problems, before they become so big we can’t deal with them.

Crappy things happen to everyone at some point in their lives. You do need some counseling; it will help you get through this and help you stop cutting. Even though it may not seem like it now, things will turn around and get better. They always do!
